Something has to be done regarding the congestion at the entranceway to the building. When I arrived to drop off my niece at 6:50 p.m., I was surprised by the large crowd of youth "trapped" at the entrance to the building with the temperature at a very chilly -5 degrees with the wind chill. A good many of them were inappropriately dressed in shorts and some in sleeveless tops. Although she was warmly dressed, I hoped that my niece's wait would not be too long. She ended up standing in line for 35 - 40 minutes with 20 minutes of the wait spent outside. When I picked her up at the end of night I questioned her about the extended wait. She informed me that the entrance fee was paid immediately upon entering the building, followed by a coat check and a physical search by security personnel. It appears that all these activities were causing severe congestion in the Town Hall entranceway/foyer. Why would these kids be made to stand outside in these near winter conditions for an extended period? I believe that a better use of the long corridor leading to the gymnasium to conduct the searches and accept the entrance fee would have allowed the youth to "come in out of the cold" and provide a much more hospitable environment for the kids. There was way too much activity confined to the entranceway/foyer for the numbers of attendees. Perhaps you should review your set-up to alleviate the congestion in the entranceway to permit a better flow. I commend your group for organizing the dances, however, I believe the youth have to be "brought in out of the cold".
Although my niece spent a good deal of time in the line-up she did have a great time once she eventually made it into the dance.
Thanks for your time and consideration......
